Kids & Dogs...

....are welcome with open arms. We have boogie boards and frisbees in the basement, and Sorry and Battleship in the game cabinet.

Dog walking on the harbor is a treat -- convenient biodegradable doggie bag stations are everywhere! Hang a right by Sambar restaurant on Thames, and you'll find a "secret" entrance to the harbor, with doggie bags galore. Continue along the harbor walk to King Park, and use the fenced in baseball field marked "No Dogs" to let Fido run off-leash to his heart's content. Uh, just kidding. We would NEVER condone illegal activity. Ahem.

Morton Park on Bellevue Avenue is an unofficial dog owner's meeting ground.

As far as I know, dogs are allowed on Sachuest Beach (or Second Beach) in the early morning until 7:30 am in summer, but longer hours in the winter. They must be picked up after, and must be kept leashed at all times. Folks do unleash, but folks also get ticketed, so beware.

For truly legal dog running fun, head to the Newport Dog Park, located on Connell Highway at the base of the Pell Bridge, directly across the street from the Newport Playhouse. The park is open from 6AM -9PM.

(Funny how this post was supposed to be about kids and dogs, and all I talked about was dogs -- sorry kids!)
